Monosodium phosphate (MSP) is a soluble sodium phosphate compound used across food, water treatment, and fertilizer applications. It is commonly employed as a pH buffering and sequestering agent in food and beverage processing, stabilizing acidity and preventing off-flavors in processed products. Additionally, it serves as a boiler water treatment additive, helping control scale formation and maintain proper alkalinity in industrial steam systems. MSP is also utilized in fertilizer formulations requiring a soluble, acidic phosphate source. Furthermore, it finds applications in general chemical manufacturing processes requiring a food-grade phosphate salt.
